well if they were small pieces of pizza it wasnt bad, You got every food gorup and at alot of healthy stuff I would say you ate about 1,600-2,000 calories?? Kudos on the protein!

There has been so much confusion about the topic of good carbohydrates and bad carbohydrates in recent years… I wanted to help clear up some of that confusion for you and set you on a clearer path to lifelong fat loss success and healthier eating.

First of all, although I am not a “low carb” believer (I certainly don’t think extremely low carbohydrate diets are healthy), I do believe that one of the main reasons that the vast majority of people struggle to ever lose weight is that they are over-consuming processed refined carbohydrates such as pasta, bagels, breads, cereals, rice, muffins, sodas, juices, candies, crackers, etc.

It is exceedingly hard to lose weight if you are over-consuming any of these types of refined processed carbohydrates (even if you work out extremely hard). In addition to causing big blood sugar swings and insulin surges that stimulate direct body fat storage, eating too many carbohydrates also increases your cravings and overall appetite.

Even carbohydrate sources that most people think are “healthy” really are just excess calories that do not really contain significant nutrient density… and many types of breads and cereals claim to be “whole grain” through clever marketing although in reality, the first ingredient in them is refined flour, which is just going to spike your blood sugar and create an insulin surge. After years of eating excess processed carbohydrates, it becomes harder and harder for insulin to do it’s job and continue handling all of this blood sugar, and insulin resistance and eventual type 2 diabetes can occur in many people.

My opinion on this is that the majority of people struggling to lose weight would get much better results by following these types of guidelines:

1. Reduce overall grain-based foods in your diet (pasta, cereal, crackers, rice, etc) and focus more of your diet on healthy free range, grass-fed meats and eggs, raw grass-fed dairy, and a whole lot of vegetables.

2. Instead of grains for most of your carbohydrate intake, try getting most of your carbs from veggies, sweet potatoes, and a variety of berries and whole fruits (NOT fruit juices, which remove the beneficial fiber as well as other important nutrients in the fruit)

3. If you are going to get any grains at all, focus on the most nutrient dense and fibrous portions of the grain… the bran and the germ. This means that the healthiest ideas are using oat bran instead of oat meal, and using wheat germ and rice bran by adding them to your salads, yogurt, cottage cheese, soups, smoothies, etc. This way you get all of the most nutrient dense parts of the grains without all of the excess starches and calories.

4. To replace the void if you are accustomed to consuming large quantities of cereals, bread, pasta, and other carbohydrate sources… try filling that void with additional healthy fats such as avocados, guacamole, nuts, seeds, nut butters as well as healthy proteins such as grass-fed raw dairy and grass fed meats, whole free-range organic eggs, etc. Healthy fats and protein sources go a long way to satisfying your appetite, controlling proper blood sugar and hormone levels, and helping you to make real progress on weight loss for life.

With all of that said, here’s one of my favorite carbohydrate sources that is high in fiber as well as contains a high density of antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals… it is yams and/or sweet potatoes. Try slicing them into thin slivers and sauteeing them with a few tablespoons of water in a pan for about 5 minutes for a quicker healthy carb (instead of baking them for over an hour). Finish them off with a touch of grass-fed organic butter and some cinnamon and you’ve got a delicous and healthy carbohydrate side dish!

Christmas is a time when we think of family get-togethers and abundance. It is memory lane for most of us, enjoying friends, memorable times and good comfort, traditional foods. But the weeks after the holidays are usually weight gains, health problems from too many sweets and food.

Today white sugar, white flour, dairy products, trans and saturated fats, refined cars and excess calories are on the “no-no” list … and with the holiday times it feels as if the cakes, cookies and candies will become obsolete. And we begin to feel deprived and panic stricken. After all, it is a long-time tradition.

One answer is to make some raw food desserts and take them to get-togethers and family meals. Use nuts, dried fruits, and avocadoes instead of white flour and white sugar. They have a lot of flavor, looks and are good for you. Oh yes … and they are easy to put together.  Jenny Cornbleet has a book out called “Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People”. In it there are desserts – cakes, cookies, fruit crisps, pies, tarts, puddings, mousses, shakes, and ice cream recipes all raw – for holidays and all meals.  Guess what?  They taste better than their sugar laden counterparts.

One recipe is for a “Flourless Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce” which calls for 1 ½ cups raw walnuts, dash of salt, 8 pitted medjool dates, ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa or carob powder, ½ tsp vanilla extract, and 2 tsp water.  For the raspberry sauce you use 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries (thaw and drain if frozen) with ¼ cup pitted medjooy dates, soaked for 30 minutes and drained.  Place the walnuts and salt in a food processor with the S blade and process until finely ground. Add dates, cocoa powder, and vanilla … process until mixture becomes sticky. Add water and process briefly.  Transfer to a serving plate and form a 5 inch round cake. Place the raspberries and dates in a blender and mix until smooth, pouring over the cake just before serving.

You do not have to give up all your comfort foods, just find a healthier recipe for it.  You will find the dessert to be much tastier.  But should you choose to nibble on a few old foods, do so in moderation, do not go overboard, and remember to wait and let your stomach digest properly before the next meal.

It seems as though the world is getting more confused than ever about the right way to lose weight these days. One of the problems is information overload on the internet and so called “gurus” all contradicting one another.

One of the biggest areas that I see my clients more confused than ever is the topic of carbohydrates and trying to figure out good carbs vs bad carbs or if they should try to follow some sort of low carb or no carb diet.

First of all, although I really don’t believe in “low carb” or “no carb” diets, I do believe that one of the main reasons so many people struggle with excess weight and body fat is that they overeat refined processed carbs such as cereal, pasta, rice, bagels, muffins, bread (even whole grain types), soda, juice, candy, crackers, etc.

It is very hard to lose any weight if you are overeating any of these types of carbs (even if you work out extremely hard). In addition to creating major blood sugar fluctuations and stimulating insulin surges (which promotes body fat deposition), eating too many carbohydrates also increases your appetite and cravings for more processed sugars and starches.

Even carb food sources that most people think are healthy are really just excess calories that do not really give you much in the way of nutrient density… and many types of bread and cereals pretend to be “whole grain” through their deceptive labeling, while in reality the 1st ingredient in them is processed refined flour, which is just going to spike your blood sugar and create a hormonal mess in your body.

My take on it is that the majority of people frustrated and struggling to lose weight would do much better following these types of recommendations:

1. Reduce grain-based carbohydrate foods in your diet (cereals, pastas, breads, rice, crackers, and so on) & focus more of the diet on healthy grass-fed and free-range meat and eggs, grass-fed raw dairy, and lots and lots of veggies.

2. Instead of the grains based foods for most of your carbohydrates, try getting most of your carbs from veggies, sweet potatoes (and yams), and a variety of whole fruits and berries (but NOT fruit juices, which remove the blood sugar blunting fiber as well as other essential parts of the fruit)

3. If you are going to eat any grain foods at all, focus on the most nutrient dense and fiber-rich portions of the grain… the bran and the germ… For example, you could eat oat bran instead of oatmeal, and use rice bran and wheat germ more frequently by adding to your soups, salads, yogurt, cottage cheese, and so on. This way you get all of the most beneficial nutrient dense portions of the grains without all of the excess starches and calories.

4. To replace the void if you are used to consuming lots of bread, pasta, cereals, and other carb sources… try replacing those foods with more healthy fat sources such as seeds, nuts, nut butters, avocados, guacamole, etc, as well as healthy protein sources such as raw grass-fed dairy and meat, whole free-range organic eggs, etc. Healthy fat and protein are ever so important for controlling your appetite, maintaining proper hormone and blood sugar levels, and helping you to make real progress on permanent weight loss.

With all of that said, a couple of my favorite healthy carb sources that are high in fiber as well as tons of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants are sweet potatoes, yams, any other root vegetables, any and all vegetables in general, & any and all berries and whole fruits.

What I’ve found with most of my clients is that once they start reducing the amount of grain-based foods in their diet and replace that with more of the carb sources I listed above as well as ample amounts of healthy fats and proteins, their weight starts falling off much faster and they finally gain control of their appetite and cravings for life. Give it a shot!

Does a low carb diet actually work or can it potentially be harmful to you? People who have followed a low carb diet have seen successful results. However, these individuals quickly regained their weight after stopping the diet. This should not be surprising to anyone since no specific diet will work for everyone. Let me go into detail on a few facts and difference of opinion with medical experts out there.

When we think about a low carb diet we draw a conclusion that people are eating an unhealthy diet with no fruits or vegetables and people are following a high fat pork and bacon concept since the popular Atkin’s diet was introduced. Most will validate that this is only promoting heart disease and a short life span for everyone. Now, let me address a few points about low carb diets so you can make your own decision.

1. Researchers have stated that a low carb diet has improved people with high blood pressure and individuals who are diabetic.

2. People think that low carb diets discourage people with eating fruits or vegetables. A matter of fact, fruits or vegetables are the carbohydrates eaten when on a low carb diet.

3. Low carb is often considered no carb with most people. However, most authors have never stated to stay on a low carb diet but temporary for 1-2 weeks the most.

4. I believe the carbohydrate intake should be adjusted to that specific person.

5. A low carb diet will include inadequate amount of fiber. On the contrary and there are low carb foods high in fiber.

Foods that are referred to low empty carbs are foods not rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other nutrients to make us healthier. Often people follow the quick results of a successful high fat and low carb plan. However, you will regain the weight quickly after you stop the low carb diet. The sensible choice or an adequate plan should consist of lean meats, low fat, healthy fats such as olives, avocados, nuts, and fatty fish. Results will promote more of a successful weight loss .

My thoughts and beliefs on a low carb diet would conclude it to be healthy or unhealthy depending on that person. What I mean is it depends if that person is selecting the right foods going into their body. Does that suggest we eat all beef, meat, or eggs with no fruits or vegetables in our diet? My approach is that you still need to include vegetables like broccoli, spinach, asparagus, leafy greens that contain phytonutrients or fiber that is important for everyone. When following a low carb diet it should include enriched foods rather than hot dogs, bacon, or pork as your protein intake. Choosing the correct foods is the key and eating reasonably through out the day that includes protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates.

The most important question you need to ask yourself is “am i willing to make a permanent change in my lifestyle”? Making a diet change permanent is following a healthy diet. No diet out there will last if you are not ready to make those changes for yourself. When it comes down to it, the people who are successful or achieving a balanced weight have not only followed a healthy diet but included exercising in their life. So, what kind of exercise routine should I follow? Well lets leave that for another author since its time for me to grab a nutritious meal!

One recipe is for a “Flourless Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce” which calls for 1 1/2 cups raw walnuts, dash of salt, 8 pitted medjool dates, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa or carob powder, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, and 2 tsp water. For the raspberry sauce you use 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries (thaw and drain if frozen) with 1/4 cup pitted medjooy dates, soaked for 30 minutes and drained.

Over all general good health is determined by the amount of water and antioxidants you consume. Your skin will show signs of poor health that can be immediately improved by drinking enough water and eating antioxidant rich foods. If your skin is dry, cracked and riddled with lines it is and indication your body is dehydrated and your internal organs are suffering.

Skin and internal organs are affected by water consumption. Water is vital to the look, texture, function and health of all organs but we can see the need on the skin. Without water, nothing would be energized. Our DNA would be damaged, our immune system would not work properly, toxins would build up in our body, and all of our cells would dry up, leaving us dehydrated. It is essential that our body receive an adequate amount of water each day. Water is an important part of the hydro-lipidic layer on top of the skin that acts like a barrier against internal water loss. It also protects the skin from elements that try to harm our body daily, like bacteria, pollutants, and UV radiation.

The visible signs on the skin help us know we are over due in water needs. Our skin will become dry, irritated, sensitive, blotchy, tight, cracked and dull if we do not drink enough water. Keeping the cells lubricated and hydrated starts with keeping water ccontent of the skin high. This is needed for the skin cells an cells in all organs to be plump, nourished, and to the skin, young-looking. Water also helps maintain a clear complexion. Indigestion, constipation, or any other type of metabolic problem causes blemishes on the skin, also acne breakouts, lines, irritation, eczema and other skin problems. When we drink enough water, the skin acts like our third kidney, filtering out impurities, removing them from the body leaving our skin clear and healthy. Collagen and elastin in the skin must have moisture. Without water, these fibers become stiff and hard, making skin loses its flexibility and pliability. This allows other aging symptoms to appear as well. Skin may also appear tight, puffy and blotchy, with an almost balloon look. Without enough water the body holds water to survive.

It is evident that the best way to have normal, functioning cells is to drink an adequate amount of water. We can get water into our system in two ways: first drink pure, clean, natural water. The chlorine content needs to be filtered out of tap water. Second eat fresh fruits and vegetables. The foods with high water-content are also high in beneficial nutrients and antioxidants: romaine lettuce, tomatoes, watercress, zucchini, asparagus, broccoli, cantaloupes, carrots, grapefruit, oranges and their juice, peaches, spinach, watermelon, apples, blueberries, yogurt, tofu, kiwis, avocados, plums, soy milk, cooked whole grains, beans and soups.

How much water should you consume each day? Our bodies lose up to three quarts of water a day because of digestion, assimilation and elimination. The body does not store excess water, so drinking six to eight glasses of water per day will replenish what is lost. This amount may vary based on your weight, health condition, activity level, etc. An easy way to calculate your personal daily need is to drink half of your body’s weight in fluid ounces. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you need about 75 ounces of water a day, that is up to nine, eight ounce glasses a day. Keep in mind, beverages containing caffeine have an adverse affect on the body. Caffeine will cause you to lose more water through urine. Caffeinated beverages do include water, but they also include other ingredients that negate water’s cleansing effect and may cause other health issues in addition to dehydration.

To stay healthy and feeling young the next in importance is antioxidant rich vegetables and fruits. We’ve all heard broccoli, tomatoes, and green tea are “super foods” to be included in our diet, but what about apples, artichokes, nuts, and a slew of other antioxidant-rich foods? They help stabilize free radicals (molecular compounds linked with diseases such as cancer), I recommend eating foods high in antioxidants everyday.

Antioxidant-packed foods to keep in mind while you shop: Apples: Red Delicious in particular. Berries: Especially blueberries, but also cranberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Artichokes: Artichokes are one of the highest vegetables for antioxidants. Oregano: Make it easy to reach in the kitchen, so you’ll use it for soups, pizzas, etc. Nuts: Pecans! Use them in baking your favorite holiday recipes this season. Beans: Small red beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, and black beans. Plums and Prunes: They make good snacks! Cherries: Fresh, frozen, sweet of sour but not in syrup or maraschino. Nature has provided what we need to stay healthy and looking great. Choose foods and beverages from nature.

brown avocado bad

brown avocado bad
brown avocado bad
What are those brown spots on the avocado?

Is my avocado bad if it has these crater like brown spots where the flesh meets the skin?

Can i still eat my avocado if it has brown spots?

Yes, you still can eat it, but it tastes much better and fresher if you cut the brown piece off. Or, you could make it into guacomole. Dip it into tortilla chips and mmmmmmmmm….. It tastes awesome. The reason the avacoado is brown is either is has been touched by oxygen, or has been squashed.

It seems that every so called “health” expert disagrees these days about the topic of carbohydrates and whether the best diet is “low carb”, “healthy carb”, high carb, or some other confusing gimmick. With this article, I’m going to give you my opinion (a Certified Nutrition Specialist) on the topic of good carbs, bad carbs, low carb, and sort through this mess.

First, I’d like to state that I do not believe in extremely “low carb” diets. It’s simply just not a healthy way to eat, and almost nobody can stick to a super low carb diet for life. However, with that said, I do believe that one of the significant reasons that most individuals struggle to ever lose any weight is that they consume way too much processed refined carbs such as rice, pasta, bagels, bread, cereal, muffins, soda, juice, candy, crackers, and other processed junk that is not part of the natural human diet.

If you are consuming excess quantities of any of these types of refined processed carbs (even if you exercise regularly and vigorously), it is nearly impossible to lose any significant body fat over time. Nasty blood sugar swings and insulin surges (which can stimulate body fat deposition) are only one negative effect of overeating refined carbs… Eating too many carbohydrates also significantly increases your cravings and appetite making it harder to control caloric intake.

Even carb sources that most people think are “healthy” are really just excess calories that do not really contain significant nutrition density… and many types of breads, crackers, and cereals claim to be “whole grain” (made with whole grains does not mean 100% whole grain) through clever marketing although in reality, the first ingredient in them is refined flour, which just spikes blood sugar and stimulates an insulin release. After years of consuming excessive processed carbs, it becomes harder and harder for insulin to do its job and continue dealing with all of that blood sugar, and insulin resistance and eventual type II diabetes can occur in many people.

My opinion on this confusing topic of carb intake is that the majority of individuals struggling to lose weight would finally start to see some weight loss results by focusing on these types of changes to their diet:

1. Reduction in overall grain-based food types in the diet (rice, pasta, cereal, crackers, cakes, cookies, etc) and focus more of your diet on healthy free range, grass-fed meats and eggs, raw grass-fed dairy, and a whole lot of vegetables.

2. Instead of choosing grain for most of your carb intake, try getting the majority of your carbs from veggies, sweet potatoes (or yams), and a variety of berries & whole fruits (NOT fruit juices, which remove the beneficial fiber as well as other important nutrients in the fruit)

3. If you are going to choose to eat grains at all, focus on the most nutrient dense and fiber-rich portions of grains… the bran and the germ. This means that the healthiest ideas are to substitute oat bran for oatmeal, and use wheat germ & rice bran by adding these to your soup, salad, yogurt, cottage cheese, shakes, etc. This way you get all of the most nutritious parts of the grain without all of the excess calories and starches.

4. If you are used to eating large amounts of carbs what you can do to replace that usual food volume is to try replacing those calories with additional healthy fats such as avocados, nuts, seeds, nut butters as well as healthy protein sources such as grass-fed raw dairy and grass fed meat, whole free-range organic eggs, etc. Healthy fats and proteins are important to help satisfy your appetite, control proper blood sugar and hormonal levels, and help you to finally gain control of your weight.

With all of that said about healthy carbs and bad carbs, here is one of my favorite carb sources that packs a nice punch of fiber as well as contains a decent amount of antioxidants, vitamins & minerals…

It is sweet potatoes (and/or yams). I like to slice them into thin strips and sautee them with a few tablespoons of water in a pan for about 5 minutes for a quick healthy carb source for lunch or dinner (baking is a great way to cook them as well, but time consuming at over an hour). I like to finish the sweet potatoes off with a touch of grass-fed organic butter and some cinnamon and you have got yourself a delicous and healthy carb side dish… Enjoy!

Other great carb sources I prefer are quinoa, high fiber brown rice, oat bran, any and all berries and other high fiber fruits, and any and all vegetables.

You do not have to give up all your comfort foods, just find a healthier recipe for it. You will find the dessert to be much tastier. But should you choose to nibble on a few old foods, do so in moderation, do not go overboard, and remember to wait and let your stomach digest properly before the next meal.

When do i plant my Avocado seed?

I have grown an Avocado seed in water, put it in a window sill and the root is now about a s long as a domino. Should I plant it now? If so, what type of soil do i use and can i use a pot or would outside be better?

I would let the roots get more established before potting it. I would let it get well established before planting it in the yard.

raw avocado chocolate mousse

What would go well/be the best way to enjoy this raw chocolate mousse (Jennifer Corbleet Raw Food Made Easy)?

It is mejool dates, sweeterner, vanilla, mashed avocado, cocoa and water mulched up.

I’ved tried it and it makes a good chocolate mousse but it’s a bit plain on it’s own.

She has a recipe for Chocolate Tart with strawberries, putting the chocoate mousse in an almond or coconut crust and fresh strawberries over the top.

I also recently made a cashew coconut pudding recipe from 2 cups cashews, water, dates and dried coconut. It feels like it needs something to go with it.

If I made the chocolate mousse tart with strawberries and used the cashew coconut pudding on it would that taste good? Or would the Chocolate mousse tart with strawberries taste better just on its own?

Any other better ideas of how to make chocolate mousse better/more interesting?

I like to have raspberries with chocolate mousse, I think the flavors go great together. Perhaps you could put some nuts or chocolate chips in it when you make it, or tiny bits of orange? Another idea would be to make a pie with the mousse for filling, or perhaps you could put it in crêpes?

Also, I think the Chocolate Tart sounds tasty, and I think it would taste nice with the pudding.

6 superfoods for age-defying beauty:

1) Goji Berries

Goji berries, hollywoods hottest new food, are one of the most nutritionally dense foods on earth and house a staggering concentration of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, phytochemicals and essential fatty acids. With such an awesome constitution it is not surprising they are reputed anti-aging marvels. Originating in Tibet and greatly favoured in traditional medicine these dried berries have many noted health benefits including boosting immunity, lowering cholesterol, enhancing vision, fighting cancer cells, relieving depression and aiding weight loss.

Goji berries contain 500 times more vitamin C than oranges by weight and more beta-carotene than carrots making them a superb source of vitamin A. Together with vitamin E and essential fatty acids, these berries are ideal for any anti-aging and beauty regime. They also contain polysaccharides, one of which has been found to stimulate the secretion of the rejuvenating human growth hormone by the pituitary gland, as well as B vitamins, 21 minerals and 18 amino acids.

The most well documented case of longevity is that of Li Qing Yuen, who lived to the age of 252. Born in 1678, he is said to have married 14 times with 11 generations of posterity before his death in 1930. Li Qing Yuen reportedly consumed goji berries daily.

A study cited in Dr. Mindell’s book ‘Goji: The Himalayan Health Secret’, observed that 67 per cent of elderly people that were given a daily dose of the berries for 3 weeks experienced dramatic immune system enhancement and a significant improvement in spirit and optimism.

2) Aloe Vera

Foget botox, Aloe Vera increases collagen production 100% naturally for a youthful, wrinkle-free complexion and plump, beautiful skin. The ultimate botox alternative!

The inner gel of the aloe vera leaf contains around 200 active compounds with over 75 nutrients. These include 20 minerals, 18 amino acids and 12 vitamins (even vitamin B12 – one of the very few plant sources of this vitamin). Aloe vera also has anti-microbial properties fighting fungi and bacteria and houses anti-inflammatory plant steroids and enzymes. Aloe vera is known to aid digestion and elimination, boost the immune system, and be highly effective at healing, moisturizing and rejuvianting the skin, naturally stimulating the production of collagen.

Aloe vera is best eaten fresh when possible (you can order large aloe vera leaves which last a few weeks refridgerated). Scrape out the inside gel, avoiding the outside of the leaf which is a strong laxative, and blend with fruit for the ultimate beautifying smoothie. Aloe vera has a mild flavour though a slight bitter edge, hence is best combined with fruit.

3) Avocados

Avocados are smoothing and softening for the skin and easily absorbed; compared with almond, corn, olive, and soybean oils, avocado oil has the highest skin penetration rate.

Avocado also contains vitamin E (excellent for the skin), antioxidant carotenoids and the master antioxidant glutathione that is exceptionally powerful and has anti-carcinogenic potential. High levels of glutathione are found in the liver where the elimination of toxic materials takes place.

Glutathione is effective against pollutants such as cigarette smoke and exhaust fumes as well as ultra-violet radiation. Research is currently exploring the potential benefits of glutathione for numerous conditions including cancer, heart disease, memory loss, arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, eczema, liver disorders, heavy metal poisoning and AIDS.

4) Chlorella

The nucleic acids RNA and DNA in Chlorella (one of the highest known sources of such) direct cellular growth and repair and enable our bodies to utilize nutrients more effectively, eliminate toxins and avoid disease. The production of nucleic acids in the body declines progressively as we age, which is no doubt why their intake is recommended by Dr. Benjamin Frank in ‘The No-Aging Diet’. Paul Pitchford in ‘Healing With Whole Foods’ writes that ‘insufficient nucleic acid causes premature aging as well as weakened immunity’, Research at the Medical College of Kanazawa in Japan found that mice that were fed chlorella had a 30 per cent increase in life span. Replenishing RNA and DNA can be key to overall health, immunity and longevity.

In addition to nucleic acids, chlorella is jam-packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes and amino acids, making it an incredibly rejuvinating and health-promoting superfood. Spirulina is a virtuous equivalent.

5) Bee pollen

When it comes to young and beautiful skin, bee pollen has outstanding gifts. Swedish dermatologist Dr. Lars-Erik Essen uses bee pollen to successfully treat acne and other skin conditions and observes it’s beautifying and anti-aging effects. He reports that bee pollen ‘seems to prevent premature aging of the cells and stimulates growth of new skin tissue. It offers effective protection against dehydration and injects new life into dry cells. It smoothes away wrinkles and stimulates a life-giving blood supply to all skin cells.’ He believes it’s skin rejuvintoin properties are due to its high concentration of nucleic acids RNA and DNA, as well as its natural antibiotic action. Bee pollen has a host of other health-promoting benefits that include fighting infections, lowering cholesterol, strengthening the blood, Boosting the immune system, increasing physical strength and stamina, aiding longevity and enhancing libido! It has been called a ‘prefect food’ because it is so nutritionally complete.

6) Coconut oil

Coconut oil speeds up your metabolism and can actually help you loose weight. It is also incredibly beautifying and moisturizing for the skin and has antioxidant properties which protect against free-radical damage, keeping the skin youthful and healthy. Taken internally or externally coconut oil is a great ally for any beauty skin care regime. It also contains lauric acid, an anti-microbial fatty acid that kills bacteria, viruses and fungi.

raw avocado dessert

Cooking a good nutritious meal does not have to result in torture for your taste buds. In fact, aside from it being pretty easy to prepare, adhering to experts’ cooking tips and tricks can turn you into cook extraordinaire. All you have to do is know which types of food you should choose and find out how many meal verities you can make out of them.

Even your favorite cooking recipes can be modified to their healthier alternatives without compromising on taste and texture. For more help visit to: www.classic-dessert-collection.com.Just figure out where to cut on calories and fat so it won’t turn out a gourmet disaster.

Of course, cooking healthy food does not really entail having to start from scratch. Why, you can even use convenience store fare and transform them into semi-homemade masterpieces by just adding healthy pinches of ingredients here and there.

Healthy cooking also does not mean that everything has to be raw and involve only vegetables. Healthy means the meals carry a balance of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, no matter how they are prepared. So whenever you think healthy cooking simply means chopping up a few things and tossing them together, you are wrong.

To spare yourself from the so-called hidden fats, or fats that aren’t easily visible, it’s best to use reduced-fat dairy goods and lean meats for ingredients. The good dietary fats usually come from unrefined products, such as fish, olives, nuts, soy, avocado and seeds. Such kinds of fat also come with other necessary nutrients so it’s okay to crazy with them.

When cooking, use a non-stick pan to minimize your oil usage. If you really need to use oil, use menstruated oils applied with pastry brushes or cooking sprays so you don’t go overboard. Also, if your recipe book requires you to brown some veggies, try dunking them into the pan first before spraying oil. This will help lessen the amount of fat absorbed by your ingredients.

Some healthy cooking experts recommend that you use substitute liquids for oil, like water, stock, fruit juices, so you won’t strip your ingredients of their vitamins and you won’t run the risk of having excess fat. And if you’re really serious about a healthy diet, use vinegars and salsas, instead of creams and butter, for more detail go to: www.delicious-sandwich-recipes.com.when you serve fish or meat dishes.

This is a tricky question. While there are schools of thought that say vitamins and minerals are best preserved when vegetables are served raw, there are some that also contend that certain nutrients only surface when they are cooked. For instance, the anti-cancer and anti-heart illness antioxidant called leucopenia is present mostly in cooked tomatoes and ketchup.

When cooking vegetables, just make sure they don’t stay boiling or frying too long to keep the minerals locked inside. Vegetables contain vitamins that are also soluble in water, it is not advised that you use too much of this liquid.

As with anything else in this world, things work when done in moderation. The secret the healthy cooking is knowing what you want to take out and what you want to preserve. It doesn’t really take rocket science to learn all these, but it does require some amount of research and patience. After all, your body is your temple. You must love it by giving it a delicious and healthy reward.
