avocado rooting
what type of Yucca root is in the produce section of grocery store?

I’m looking for the kind that you can make shampoo/ detergent/ soap, is this the same one? It’s about 1-2 pounds, very long, wax like surface, almost looks like a long large brown avocado with a root

Native Americans have many traditional uses for the Yucca. For example, the fibrous leaves can be woven into mats, sandals, and baskets. The leaves can also be frayed on the end and used for paint brushes. The roots can be pounded in water to produce a lather used for soap and shampoo (hence the name soap weed (Yucca elata)). It has also been used for cattle feed during severe droughts, and the fruits of the fleshy fruited species (Yucca baccata is called banana Yucca) has been use for food for native american.

avocado pit rooting

how do you root an avocado pit?

My mom wants to know.
I’ve got no idea what that even means.

Yes, but it’s important to note that the POINTED end of the pit needs to point up. As long as the flat end is submerged in the rooting cup/bowl, your mom should observe a crack starting to open in the bottom within 7-10 days. When she sees the root poke out, that’s a good time to plant it in a flower pot – or outside if you live in a warm climate (like Florida – they grow all over here)

Not all seeds are responsive to rooting – best bet is to use an organic avocado. I do think you could plant it directly in soil, pointed end sticking just slightly up from the surface, but I’ve never tried it that way.
