calories avocado medium

calories avocado medium
calories avocado medium
Is it better for weightloss to eat a high caloric density or low caloric density breakfast?

Is it better for weight-loss to eat a high calorie nutritious breakfast or a low calorie nutritious breakfast that makes you really full?

e.g.
2 slices(very nutritious) multigrain bread 188 calories
with 2 tablespoons avocado 30 calories
and 1 tablespoon silvered almonds 39 calories
and 10 saltanas 33 calories
Total 290 calories
Or
Yoghurt and Fruit Salad type thing:
100g peach 39 calories
300g strawberry diet yoghurt 110 calories
1 chopped medium apple 72 calories
200g strawberries 66 calories
Total 287 calories

I heard that if you eat a lot of breakfast your stomach will stretch and you will have to eat more later in the day…but I also heard that breakfast should be the biggest meal.

Please tell me your oppinions.

You could always just eat a bowl of special k for breakfast with skim milk. Then you don’t have to go though all that trouble with the counting, cutting, slicing, organizing, cleaning, etc.

Open box. Pour cereal in bowl. Pour milk. Eat. Period.

Their cereal has plenty of vitamins in them and the calories is only 110 or so per 3/4 cup serving. So you can fill up a 2 cup bowl with cereal, pour in the skim milk, and not have to worry about anything unless you have allergies or something.

Trying to lose weight is just as difficult as trying to quit smoking. When it comes to weight loss, many people are ignorant of what weight loss really is and so waste a great deal of money trying out the latest fad diets, join weight loss clinics, pop diet pills or hope somehow to shed pounds by reading product labels and counting calories.

But none of these methods work very long. Many believe the myths propagated by the industry that keep them from losing the weight they want. They cut out calories, eat less and avoid snacking when hunger hits. While these myths contain some element of the truth, you need to understand what not to believe about them so you can lose weight. Once you understand how to shed unwanted pounds, you will succeed and keep the weight off permanently.

Cut out fat to lose weight. That’s a generalized statement. When we think of fat, we think of all fats, both the saturated and unsaturated kinds. The truth is that we need some fat in the diet. What we need to avoid are the saturated fats, the trans fats as are found in margarine, marbled beef and those delectable burgers served up as fast food. We cook and fry our foods in saturated fats. Good fats are seldom a part of the average diet. The best way to distinguish between good fat and bad fat is that bad fat tends to stay solid at room temperature. Foods that contain good fats are olive oil, nuts, seeds and avocados which are also good sources of fiber and protein.

Skip meals to lose weight. Many people skip breakfast for this reason. But breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. But skipping a meal has the a reverse effect. You eat more because you are hungry and you eat more of the wrong food. Skipping meals is less important than avoiding those foods that come loaded with fat and sugar. It’s the quality of food that is eaten that adds to the weight and most people eat a highly refined diet. You should eat three meals of wholesome, organic food and you are more likely to lose weight.

Remove all dairy foods from the diet: Eggs were considered bad for their cholesterol. Yet they are considered today as a perfect food. Milk, cheese and other dairy products certainly contain fat, but it depends on the kind of fat they contain and how much of it you eat. Fresh unpasteurized milk is more healthy than milk that has been homogenized, pasteurized and come from cows who have been fed growth hormones to produce more. One egg a day is not going to significantly raise cholesterol levels. Worried about cheese? Switch to low-fat cheeses and low-fat plain yogurts that aren’t loaded with sugar.

Use willpower to lose weight: Few people have the discipline to stick to a diet plan until they’ve achieved their objective. Even worse, they don’t have the strength to stick with a diet to insure the weight doesn’t return. Today’s world is filled with temptations. You’ll need a good deal of support from others if you want to shed the pounds.

Drink water to lose weight. The idea to drink water is a good one as few people drink enough of it. The myth stems from the fact that water fills you up. If you drink a glass before a meal, you’ll be less likely to overeat and thus lose weight. However, gulping down glasses of water can tax the kidneys but won’t do much if you’re eating the typical diet of North Americans today.

In order to control weight and shed those unwanted pounds, you need to know the real reasons for weight gain. And it’s not completely due to a faulty diet. But once you dispose of the myths, you have a better chance of shedding that weight and keeping it off.

Counting calories? How many calories do you estimate this to be?

2 cups of coffee with Sweet and Low and dash of cream in each cup.
Cream of Wheat one serving with 1/2 cup or so of 2% milk and an 8oz. glass of Pomegranate juice.

Turkey breast sandwich on whole wheat with mustard only and Huge glass of water.

Boiled chicken breast with boiled pinto beans one serving normal size, green chili’s on chicken with 1/2 avocado, two corn tortillas warmed not fried and a HUGE glass of water.

How many calories do you estimate this to be. I tried searching on line and was not able to find any useful websites.

Thanks for your help!
EDIT- I also take a multi-vitamin , I have a banana for a snack. Does this sound like a healthy meal plan for a day?

Plain coffee is basically calorie free. A “dash” of cream is probably about 20 calories (and I’m over-estimating to be safe), so:
2 “dashes” of cream: 40
Cream of Wheat: 130
1/2 cup 2% milk: 70
8 oz. glass juice: 160
2 slices whole wheat bread: 160
1 serving turkey breast (sliced): 50
(mustard is basically calorie free)
Boiled chicken breast: 150
pinto beans: 140
1/2 avocado: 170
2 corn tortillas: 140

TOTAL: 1210

Diet pills can aid you in appetite suppression and fat metabolism but you just can’t expect to pop a pill and drop a pound.

One of the biggest problems with controlling weight through calorie counting is usually the same problem we see with low fat diets. First you get more hungry more often and/or you fill up on foods that are low in calories, but also low in nutritional value such as sweets and simple carbohydrates.

Yes, cutting carbs will cause you to lose weight, but not much actual body fat, if any at all. It is time to hit full gear to keep the winter fat off.

The problem is that your body will readjust, think you are starving and hold onto every bit of fat you have to stay alive.

Proponents of low carb diets claim that it’s not just how much you eat but what you eat that determines how much fat you will burn. The problem with some weight loss diets is you consume food that is low in carbohydrate and fat.

If are cutting back on carbs, you have to make up the calories somewhere, so that leaves fat and protein. Eating plans that cut out carbohydrates can only get their nutrients from protein, fats, and alcohol — there are no other sources of calories.

During the early stages of ketosis, small body fat losses are exaggerated by large water losses – rapid weight loss is a result.

If your priority is getting thin and staying thin, cutting out unnecessary, nutrient-less carbs and upping your protein and unsaturated fats will probably get you there. Fish is low in fat, as high in protein as red meat, and provides something that most other proteins don’t – omega 3 fatty acids.

People who are insulin resistant should limit carbohydrates to about 45 percent of their daily calorie intake and make up the difference by increasing unsaturated fats. The good carb foods are in general high in fiber that reduces the absorption of fat in the body.

In and of themselves, carbs are not fattening. Some of these foods may be high in fat, salt and overall calories.

Of all the diets I’ve seen over the past few decades, the moderate-fat, lower-carbohydrate ones are the most successful. There’s nothing wrong with a potato — until you fry it in fat.

The logic is if carbs aren’t there, consequently your body will burn fat, but that isn’t the case. So consider boosting your good fats by adding nuts to your morning cereal or avocado to your salads. Also, increase your daily exercise level.

Help with losing weight, fitness and flexibility!?

So I have been doing this diet kind of thing: I do a one hour work out Firm series video (I have five and alternate them…), I started a fruit/veg shake for example today’s was: avocado, cucumber, carrot, wheat bran, tomato, apple and pear, I eat very little (but still I do eat little compared to what I used to eat, I know about the whole starvation mode and try to keep my calorie count just under 2000), I also try to eat low carbs. I don’t eat sugar, white flour or white bread products. I drink milk, and nuts of sorts. I also try not to eat anything artificial. My question is hogy can I lose more weight and improve my life style? – Oh I’m 15.

My second question is simply how do I improve my flexibility? What kind of streches, Or does any food have an influence on that?

Thanks for anything!

Well your weight loss depends on your height and weight but overall in order to be healthy just eat lots of fruits and vegetables try to stay away from soda and candy nd chips because those really get in the way. dont eat so much bread so i guess mainly fruits and vegetables and not too much meat either.

As for flexibility i would try looking up aerobics and yoga stretches. lunges are really good. Im taking aerobics right now and it not only improves flexibility but also balance.

But overall to be healthy just exercise and eat the right things. Dont go on fastings or starvations diet cause they can really hurt you.

If you need to drop and few kilos and don’t know where to get started, stop counting calories and start counting colors. When it comes to losing weight, make sure your plate is piled high with a range of colorful fruit and vegetables. You’ll naturally create more balance and health-filled menus.

Chili is one of those great dishes that can be served in tons of different ways and goes good with many delicious side dishes. But if you’re thinking about serving chili the next time you have friends over for dinner or to watch the big game or when the weather starts getting cooler, here are some great ideas you might want to use.

Making Your Chili Even Better

Even if you already make the best chili on your block or at your tailgate parties, you could spice it up with some toppings. Of course, you’ll find some of the traditional items on the list: shredded cheeses, sour cream, oyster crackers or crumbled tortilla shells (choose the ones with a hint of lime for an nice touch), saltine crackers, or even hot sauce.

But those are a little bit basic. If you’re talking about advanced chili topping for the chili connoisseur, then you’ll want to shop around in your produce department or farmer’s market. Adding scallions, green onions, cilantro, or avocado can give your chili a little color and extra taste. A dollop of guacamole instead of sour cream (or with sour cream) can also be scrumptious, especially if you make it homemade. Jalapenos are also nice for a kick and should be added by the individual consumers of the chili – not everyone likes the spice. Red onion or salsa can be nice additions, too.

Not Just for Bowls

Chili isn’t soup so it doesn’t have to be served alone in a bowl with a spoon. Instead, get creative with how you serve this dish. You can use Fritos for dipping or pour the chili on top of a baked potato, French fries, pasta (some people even add spaghetti or macaroni pasta to their chili), rice, taco shells, hamburgers or hot dogs, cornbread, or even scrambled eggs.

Chili goes good with almost any food but make sure to account for the potential messiness. Always have extra napkins.

Great Side Dishes

When you’re serving chili, it’s definitely hearty enough to be a main dish. And while some people like to eat their chili by itself, having some complementary side dishes can enhance the dish’s flavor immensely. Cornbread is a delicious and traditional addition to chili. If you’re trying to give your meal a Tex-Mex flavor, you could make Mexican cornbread with peppers, some shredded Colby/Jack cheese, and some kernel corn or if you want to make it spicier you can cut up pieces of jalapeno to add into the cornbread mix.

Black bean and corn salad is another choice. The salad, which is served cold or at room temperature, includes black beans, cubed cheeses, roasted corn, green onions, bell peppers, picante sauce, herbs, olive oil, and a few other tasty items. You can also toss in other items you love, such as avocados.

Another idea is a Southwest Vegetable salad that includes lettuce, colorful red peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and some toasted pumpkin seeds. This dish has just as much color as flavor and has a very delicious flavor especially when enjoyed along with a bowl of chili.

Alta Care Laboratoires asks if your personality is sabotaging your diet?

Get out of your own way to lose weight

You try every diet, exercise trend and gimmick in the book. You even drop a few pounds… only to find them slowly creeping back on. So you try harder. You diet more vigorously, but somehow the weight keeps finding its way back to your hips, thighs and waist. What gives? It could be that your personality is sabotaging your efforts to get thin. Here are five of the most common personality types that tip the calorie scale toward weight gain.

Personality #1: The Couch Potato. You may be cutting back on calories, but you don’t move enough to stimulate your metabolism. (Picking up the remote control to change the channel does not count as exercise!) Activity is the only way to achieve calorie deficits. Counting calories and watching your portions are the key to maintaining a healthy weight, but you must also get moving to burn extra calories and shed weight.  Altadrine Fat Burning Tablets, by Alta Care Laboratoires, Paris, burn body fat by converting it into energy.

Personality #2: The Busy Bee. You don’t have time for breakfast, lunch comes from the vending machine and you eat dinner in the car on your way home from work. Sound familiar? Studies show that a healthy, hearty breakfast containing a protein, such as eggs or yogurt; along with a healthy fat, such as nuts or a serving of avocado; plus a carbohydrate, such as fruit or whole grain bread, can fuel your physical and mental energy levels, decrease your stress levels and help stimulate your metabolism.

Personality #3: The Portion Distorter. Often you try to justify eating second and third servings of healthy food because it’s good for you. But even nutritious food can cause you to gain weight. Some cereals are high in fiber, but they are also high in calories and processed sugar. Snack or meal replacement bars are culprits because they often weigh in at up to 500 calories. If you snack on high-calorie protein bars, you can easily surpass your calorie needs for the day. Even sweet potatoes, and brown rice and other grains need to be portioned out, though they rank high in fiber and nutrients. The solution: Continue to eat healthy, but be portion-wary!

Altadrine Soup, by Alta Care Laboratoires, Paris; is a fibre-based organic, highly nutritious soup that can replace any meal or snack.  When one is taking Altadrine Soup one is benefiting from a range of nutritious substances in a low-calorie food supplement…and Altadrine Soup only takes 2 minutes to prepare!  Simply add 5 tablespoons to a bowl of boiling water and stir; add any desired spices or salt and pepper and enjoy! If you prefer tablets instead of soup opt for Altadrine fruit and vegetable tablets.

Personality #4: The Closet Junk-a-holic. Do you eat very little nutritious food during the day and binge on junk food in private? Many of us do. It’s so easy to bypass the three-square-meals rule and justify small handfuls of candy from co-workers’ desks, snacks from vending machines, and nibbles here and there. Many dieters don’t believe that picking at food throughout the day can lead to weight gain. But grabbing food on the go, no matter what the size, can pack on pounds and make you even hungrier. By keeping your blood sugar levels stabilized with a balanced diet you’ll be able to cut cravings and the desire to binge. If you must snack during the day, try air-popped popcorn (jazz it up with flavored sprays), nuts, high fiber cereal or dried fruit, frozen berries, grapes or bananas, small pieces of dark chocolate or fat-free puddings. Eat decadent treats only on special occasions.  Altadrine Day & Night Burner Ampoules are an ideal weight management supplement with many different actions – fat burning, draining, metabolism boosting and appetite controlling! Altadrine syrup also has a .

Personality #5: The Takeout Queen. You probably know that most takeout is high in trans fats, saturated fats, sodium and added white sugar, with mega-sized portions and extra condiments adding to the calorie burden. So if you don’t like to cook, you need to set some ground rules. When ordering Chinese, ask for a steamed dish with vegetables and sauces on the side. Healthy Mexican options include grilled chicken, beans and rice, and grilled vegetables. You can add salsa to your dish, as long as you nix the fried chips and refried beans. When ordering Italian food, choose pasta with red sauce and use vegetables as your primary topping. Cheese, grilled chicken or shrimp should be served on the side. If you’re having pizza, be sure to blot it several times and add vegetable toppings to cut down on high-fat cheese.  If all else fails opt for Altadrine Fruit & Vegetable Tablets by Alta Care Laboratoires, Paris.  The high fibre content in these tablets makes Altadrine Fruit & Vegetable Tablets act as a potent fat blocker, helping you control that fat intake!
