Is this high in calories?

is this smoothie high in calories? i make it in the morning fresh with my juicer and blender, the ingrediants below make enough for me to drink it for breakfast and lunch.
ingrediants are:
1/2 a small avocado
1/4 cucumber
handful of spinach
1/2 small pineapple
4 small golden delicious apples
stick of celery
1/4 lime

do you think this has alot of calories? i know avocado is pretty high. i drink it for breakfast and lunch though, so its not in addition to meals. i eat a normal balanced meal early evening.
yeah it tastes really good, surprisingly. it really fills me up too. its so nice to drink in the morning…

At most: approx. 700 calories. I don’t know if you consider that a lot or not, seems to me that it’s a reasonable amount to have for breakast and lunch if you are restricting calories.

Eat your way to better poker II – Remember these foods to improve your memory

“Are you telling me there is something I can eat to improve my memory?†Yes, we are! And we don’t just mean that eating your Auntie’s chicken noodle soup will bring back memories of summer. By eating certain foods regularly, you will improve your brain’s ability to record new memories and to access them quickly, keeping your brain young and ready to learn.

How does it work?

As the brain ages, it loses the ability to protect itself from daily wear and tear, particularly inflammation (swelling)and oxidation, a process which allows damaging free radicals to attach themselves to cells. In addition to this, brain cells often stop communicating with each other as people age, making it harder for the brain to process thoughts, retain short-term memory and create new cells.

“Old neurons are like old married couples — they don’t talk to each other very much anymore. They just sit in the room with the remote and stare at the TV,†says Dr. James Joseph, director of the Neuroscience Lab at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University in Boston.

While research in the field of aging and nutrition is just beginning, scientists have found that diet may help minimize the brain’s sensitivity to oxidation and inflammation, as well as improve brain cells’ ability to communicate with each other. This means that by eating correctly you may keep your brain younger, more nimble, and better able to remember.

We will now walk you through several chemicals which have been discovered to improve your memory and general brain condition, not to mention your health and looks!

Antioxidants:

We have just read that the brain ages because of oxidation and inflammation, which happen because of the brain’s high demands of oxygen for its daily functioning. Now listen to this: if what you want is to minimize inflammation and oxidation, you could do worse than eating lots of antioxidants. These natural chemicals give plants their bright colors, and are especially effective at – you guessed it! – preventing oxidation.

A study involving 70 beagles showed that dogs which had been fed an antioxidant-rich diet over several years performed better in old age than their fellows who had eaten a standard diet. These old dogs COULD learn new tricks! Now, we are not calling anyone an “old dogâ€, but while we all wish we were Annette Obrestad, most of us have already left our teenage years behind and are heading towards Doyle Brunson and Dewey Tomko at this stage. This is why it is so important to get an edge nutrition-wise over all the middle-aged competition out there in the tables, not to mention all those plucky youngsters! So what should you eat to keep your brain as active and healthy as those beagles?

As we said earlier, antioxidants give plants their bright colors, so any bright-colored vegetable or fruit is a good bet. Since we really want you to start eating better, we have compiled a list to make your shopping easier. For best results, try to eat at least 5 (but preferably 9) portions of these foods daily. Don’t underestimate the power of vegetables – remember that Daniel Negreanu is a vegetarian, who brings home-cooked vegan packed lunches to big tournaments and has the success rate we all wish we had.

The “veg-o-phobes†among you may already be saying “why should I eat all those horrid green things when I can have my cake and take a supplement instead?†We are very sorry, but that just won’t do – most researchers agree that antioxidants present in food are significantly more effective than those from supplements! Think salads are for rabbits? In that case try adding vegetables to your stews, pasta dishes and stir-fries, or blend fruits and yogurt for delicious and nutritious smoothies that will keep you running through those all-night online tourneys!

Im sure that everyone has heard exercise, exercise, exercise to your body healthy, well, you never hear anyone say exercise you’re your brain too. Your brain is just as important as the rest of your body. It is very common for people to experience a decline in in their mental capacitates and capabilities as they get older in age. It doesn’t have to happen to you however, with a little effort you can prevent your brain from aging no matter how old you are.

There are many ways that the brain can support your brain. Physical exercise, yes I said it, everyone says exercise to keep your body healthy, well it helps the brain too. But there are a lot more things you can do to keep your brain healthy. Sexual energy can even help your brain. It helps pass information between nerve cells. Slowing down your breathing rate can increase the activity of the hypothalamus and the pituitary glands. A really fun way to stimulate your brain is to try new things. Walking backwards isn’t new but it sure does feel new and different there has been evidence that doing things in unusual patterns can make the brain larger in size. Stimulate the senses too. Continually keeping your eyes moving in your surrounding will keep the brain processing new information and taking a moment to smell the roses or something you haven’t ever smelled before will enhance your brain.

More things you can do to keep your brain healthy is to get enough sleep. Everyone really needs about 9 hours of sleep. The normal 6 hours doesn’t cut it to keep a happy brain. Stress hormones can actually kill your brain cells in your memory center. Even substances can stress the brain, caffeine; nicotine, drugs, and alcohol decrease the blood flow in the brain that cause premature aging of the body and your brain.

Thinking negatively can cause damage to your brain as well. When you feel sad or mad take a moment to think is it really worth feeling that why or am I over reacting or being upset over nothing. Staying socially active and eat a balanced diet. These help too.

Certain foods can improve your brains’ healthiness too. Things like fish, blueberries, nuts and green tea all help. Protein is important to improve your mental performance. Fish have protein and omega 3 that protect the brain and support its development. Blueberries are good antioxidants. They eliminate free radical damage that causes aging. Nuts and seeds are like wonder foods for the brain, they have protein and fatty acids. They stimulate the pituitary glands and release growth hormone. Broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, are essential for brain and memory health. Poultry, wheat, avocado, and milk will prevent age related memory problems.

Green tea prevents Alzheimer’s disease and has antioxidants that help prevent premature brain aging. 2 cups a day will get your brain all the benefits that green tea has to offer. Microalgaes including seaweed, kelp, spirulina, and chlorella are high energy supplements that help the over all brain function. There are other herbal supplements and natural products that can help your brain. Alternative Health Supplements offers many natural products that will help your brain. There is focus supplements, memory supplements, as well as others that will keep your brain in tip top shape.

Spicy Kick*** Corn Salad

On your “Chicken Noodle Casserole”, you need to explain some things to me. What size box of pancake mix? Do I end up using the broth from the soups that I’ve drained? If yes, then when? A full tablespoon of salt seems way too salty since the noodles have already been in the salty broth, the pancake mix already has salt, and the bouillon cube is also salty. Why does it need any salt?

If you want to improve your health and vitality levels then one of the best things you can do is adopt an alkaline diet. I’ve got 3 great alkaline diet recipes for you :-)

You should aim for a 70:30 ratio of alkaline to acidic foods.

In my and many other people’s experience, if you try and eat 100% alkaline foods, it is really too difficult to sustain and doesn’t allow for some foods that should be enjoyed sparingly, like fruit.

It is better to go for 70:30 than ‘fall off the wagon’ completely, trying to achieve a 100% alkaline diet.

Here are 3 easy, quick and tasty alkaline diet recipes: The first is a lovely tasty curry. Herbs and spices are very alkalizing so use these freely in all your food preparation and cooking. The second recipe is a slightly sweet avocado salad. Avocadoes are absolutely wonderful foods – full of Omega 3 essential oils and one for the only alkaline fruits, a real super food. The third recipe is a good old classic salad. You really can’t go wrong with eating a big salad every day – dark green leafy vegetables are amazingly alkalizing so knock yourself out :-) Enjoy!

1 – Chickpea and Spinach Curry Number of Servings: 6 Preparation time: 10 minutes

Ingredients: 1 cup coarsely chopped onion 1-1/2 Tbsp fresh ginger, chopped or grated 1 tsp olive oil or virgin coconut oil 1-1/2 tsp red curry powder 1 19 oz can chickpeas, rinsed and drained 1 14 oz can diced tomatoes with liquid 1 10 oz bag spinach 1/2 cup water 1/4 tsp salt (optional)

Directions: Put the ginger and onion in a food blender/mixer until it is minced. Heat oil gently in large skillet over medium high heat. Add onion mixture and curry. Sauté 3 minutes. Add chickpeas and tomatoes; simmer for 2 minutes. Stir in spinach, water and salt. Cook another minute or until spinach wilts.

2 – Avocado Fruit Salad Number of serving: 8 Preparation time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

1/2 ripe avocado, seeded and peeled (1/2 sliced into 8 portions, 1/2″ cubed) 1-1/2 Tbsp olive oil 2 Tbsp raspberry vinegar 1 tsp grated lime peel 1 Tbsp fresh lime juice 1 Tbsp fresh chopped basil leaves 1/2 tsp dry mustard 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 1 10 oz package mixed baby greens 4 kiwi, peeled and sliced in half rounds 4 grapefruit 2 cups sliced strawberries 2 star fruits, sliced

Directions: Salad Dressing – In a small bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients, set aside. Salad – In a large salad bowl, combine baby greens, kiwi, grapefruit, strawberries and star fruit. Pour on dressing and toss to coat. Top with avocado slices.

3 – Very Veggie Salad Number of Servings: 4 Preparation time: 15 minutes

Ingredients: 4 cups raw spinach 4 cups romaine lettuce 2 cups chopped red, yellow, orange bell pepper 2 cups cherry tomatoes 1 cup chopped broccoli 1 cup chopped cauliflower 1 cup sliced yellow squash 1 cup sliced zucchini 2 cups sliced cucumber 2 cups chopped baby carrots

Directions: Wash all of the vegetables and mix them together in a large mixing bowl. Top this colorful meal with a nonfat or low-fat dressing of your choice

Salt is a rock. It is not a food. Put 4 ounces of it in water and drink it and you will die. Some websites say that you need salt, but they are trying to sell you salt. They will say that other salt is bad, but you should buy their salt since it is good for you. It has lots of sodium in it and can still kill you. The fossils of man that are over 10,000 years old have no salt in them. They figure that that is when man started using salt. People have been around millions of years.

The refrigerator is only a recent invention. You can leave fruit and vegetables out of the refrigerater but animal products need refrigeration. Salt kills bacteria so that would help keep animal products to stay good a little longer. It could be used to keep foods from going bad, until they could ferment. It kills life. You can rub into cuts to torture people.

When people consume salt, the body is constantly trying to get rid of it but can only get rid of so much per day with you consuming more everyday. So it stores the excess under the skin. It need to absorb a lot of water to keep it from being toxic. So salt causes a lot of water weight.

LATEST NEWS: In an effort to reduce high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, the American Medical Association is urging “the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to revoke the ‘generally recognized as safe’ (GRAS) status of salt and to develop regulatory measures to limit sodium in processed and restaurant foods.” Vitamins and minerals have a minimum RDA (recommended daily allowance). All of them have this except sodium. Instead it has a maximum RDA.

If you look in the foods made by nature they have around 15 milligrams of sodium. When it comes to man-made foods, a large pizza has 3,000+ mg of sodium and a can of chicken noodle soup has 2,000+ mg of sodium. An avocado has 21 mg of sodium but 1,400 mg of potassium making it a very healthy food for you.

The body determines how much water you need by the concentration of sodium in it. That is the reason that if you are on a raft in the ocean with water all around you, you can still die of dehydration. You will only get more dehydrated drinking the ocean water or your salty urine. This is the reason that I call it anti-water. It makes it so water will not work.

The book, The Rice Diet Solution (©2006) by Kitty Gurkin Rosati R.D. and Robert Rosati M.D. says that in addition to salt causing water retention, it also stimulates the appetite causing people to eat more. During the first 5 days of a fast the body dumps huge amounts (up to 80,000 mg per day) of salt so it gets rid of all the excess salt. So this is why someone can lose up to 15 pounds of weight during the first 5 days of a fast. They lose 15 pounds of water.

If the body continued to lose sodium after this excess is removed then the person would die after a few more days of fasting due to lack of sodium instead of being able to fast a month. But the body no longer needs to get rid of it so the sweat and urine are no longer salty. But due to ignorance, some people think they need to replace this salt since the body is getting rid of it. Sweating helps you lose retained water since you are sweating out excess salt.

Good recipes? Please try them. They are my recipes!?

Can you please try my recipes?

Chicken Noodle Casserole
4 Cans of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle soup
1 TBS. salt
1 Bullion Cube
1 Box of Pancake mix

Drain the soup from the noodles and vegetables, mix in bullion cube.
prepare box of pancake mix as instructed, sprinkle in salt.Bake Drained noodles in oven at 375 f. for 5 min in a casserole dish, take out noodles and let them cool for 5 more min. then mix in pancake mix, bake again until it has risen and is golden brown.Serve and enjoy!!

Spicy Kick*** Corn Salad

1 Can Sweet corn
1 avocado
half of a tomato
Half of a cucumber
1 TBS. Chile powder
1 pinch paprika
half tsp. salt
1 Tbs cream cheese
1/4 cup chipotle bbq sauce
2 tbs honey

Mix corn with all the spices and sauces and honey, but not the cream cheese.Cook over med. heat until steaming.Wait until it cools at room temp.Mix in the rest of the ingredients and let it chill for 30 min.Serve and enjoy!!

Keep trying to create recipes. It’s the only way we can develop new entrees, etc. to enjoy.

I don’t know if it’s something in my mind or my hormones but some foods just get me hot and the chance for great lovemaking goes way up after my man has arranged for us to eat in style. I especially get turned on when my partner has gone out of his way to prepare an aphrodisiac dinner.

It isn’t just the lovers’ food themselves of course but the smell and the way it is presented on the plate can really raise my mood and start my mind going into sexual overdrive. Setting the mood is one of the biggest factors and a guy who can plan this out and then carry on in that “nonchalant way” really has me before I even take the first bite.

Aphrodisiac Menu Tips

Set the Right Romantic Mood
Setting the mood can include any or all of the following accoutrements such as candles, the best silverware, crystal, and maybe even some flowers or a special beverage with a pleasing display on the bottle. His outfit as he sits down next to me at a nicely set table has a way of arousing me beyond words and the images tend to flash in my mind again and again after we have moved into the bedroom.

Of course, a good bottle of wine plays a role. Did you know that research published in a 1994 issue of British scientific journal, Nature, claimed that alcohol can boost the levels of libido in women?!? So choose your bottle of wine wisely!

The colors at the table setting are also very important so think “red, pink and white” as well as the classy “black and white” formal setting with the lights dimmed down low. Once the mood is set, I seem to settle into the idea of sex in only a few short minutes and the guy doesn’t really need to say anything else for the rest of the night!

Food Foreplay
If your woman tends to be a bit more reserved, you can move into something a little more serious with Oysters Rockefeller. Fresh Washington oysters are a great aphrodisiac and you can really go all out by topping them with a creamy mix of spinach, smoked bacon and fennel followed by a touch of anise to make an amazing impression on her. This is something that gets anyone’s heart racing because oysters tend to have a mind altering affect on both men and women.

Another sure fire hit for the ladies is drunken lobster salad. This requires a bit more preparation but it mainly consists of some sweet poached lobster tossed with spinach greens, fresh avocado and maybe even some luscious grapes. I love to taste those luscious grapes in my mouth as I fantasize about having him carry me into the bedroom and devouring me for his dessert.

Chocolates are a MUST!
If nothing else seems to disarm your sweetheart, chocolate has got to be one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs and is the one thing that always gets me swooning into his arms. Even the nerdish scientist knows that chocolate can elevate a girl’s mood and start her thinking all kinds of dirty thoughts about her man. Use your brains fellows!

Some beautiful chocolate hearts or a box of chocolates decorated in a beautiful presentation can bring any girl to her knees and all you have to do is smile after that and the rest is going to be destiny.

Just remember everything I have told you and you shouldn’t ever go wrong with a romantic aphrodisiac dinner with your lover again. Next time you want to put her in the mood for some bedroom action, you’ll have a sure fire plan for success because you will have set the mood well ahead of time. Then you will see how true it is that a man of very little words can truly stimulate a girl long before he even lays a hand on her.

A little bit of pre-planning and arranging for things to look nice will take all the pressure off worrying what she thinks of your aphrodisiac dinner. Instead, it will be everything you don’t have to say and the preparation and your attention to detail will have already done all the talking for you.

Be the lover who can let his woman do all the talking as he sits back and confidently allows his aphrodisiac menu to take affect. Then you will be the man who knows how to pamper his sweetheart and listen to her in those quiet, romantic moments when she is ready to please him as well.
